October 2005

Kylie has slept in her bed 3 times this month all night!  I'm so happy for her.  When I say all night that means at least until 5 am.  Other than that she's been a real bear when it comes to sleep.  I have noticed the nights I haven't let her watch tv before bed are the nights she sleeps all night.  So I'm stopping the tv before bed bit!

She's growing so fast!  I'm noticing her independence and how she wants to pick out what she wants to wear and doesn't want what mommy picks out.  She tries so hard to do everything for herself.  She's also mommy's little helper, helping me do little chores here and there around the house.  Very helpful at times!

Kylie is also very stubborn and her and I butt heads like crazy.  I wish it wasn't that way.  I feel like most days I'm scolding her more than I'm looking at her positive behaviors.

Kylie decorated pumpkins at home and at daycare this month and is very excited that she's going to be a Disney Cinderella Princess for Halloween.

Oh and Kylie got on a big girl bike at Ms. Terri's one day.  It had training wheels and she rode it!  Now why won't she ride any of her tricycles here?  :(

Her hair is even more curly than ever and getting so long.  I feel so bad because it gets tangled very easy and it's a real pain to get the knots out when brushing.

She's at that stage where she's noticing things.  Like for instance she knows about daddy's "body parts", lol.  She also thinks she needs to wear make-up so she can get kissed by someone.  She's a very smart girl that's for sure.

Kylie has had a few bathroom accidents this month but mostly because she refused to stop playing with something to go potty.  I wish this would stop.

With daddy being gone I think Kylie doesn't get the attention she deserves and needs but she's hanging in there.  She's doing the best she can as well and sometimes I forget to think about that.

September 2005

What a month!  Kylie turned 3 on the 7th and her birthday party was on the 10th.  Both events turned out really well.  On her birthday I took the day off and we went to the park with a picnic lunch with daddy.  Then later after daddy got home we all went to Chuck E. Cheese for dinner and fun!  What a tiring night that was, but very fun!

Kylie has been doing very well with night training.  It's been over a month since she's been dry.  We are very happy about this and so is she.  If only we could get her to sleep in her bed all night, sigh.

She had her 3 year check-up on the 19th and she weighed 34.5 pounds (WOW) and 40 inches tall (BIGGER WOW).  She's very high on the percentage chart, but Dr. L said her growth curve is "beautiful".  We still need to call the doc regarding her feet and cast situation, but otherwise Dr. L said she's doing excellent.

Daddy left for his FEMA training on the 25th and we are just now trying to adjust to that.  Kylie doesn't really understand that daddy will be gone a long time but we will get through it one day at a time.

August 2005

This child is out of control!  She just won't listen to anyone, tells us no, defies us, sasses back, etc.  It's really getting out of hand.  I guess it's the age, though.

She's sleeping really well (almost all night) in her playroom now.  She gets up about 5:30 am most times to crawl into bed with us, but either than that she basically spends all night in there.  She won't sleep in her bedroom by herself, though, still!

I got Kylie new tennis shoes this month and she is now in size 9.  That's up from 8.5, which was her size at Christmas time of 2004.  She's really slowing down in the growth department.  She's stayed steady with her weight of around 30 pounds and her shoe size hasn't gone up too much.  I think she may have gotten a bit taller since Spring as her pants that she wore then are now a bit short.

The daycare kids are a big influence on her and seem to taunt her.  This really bothers me but I guess she'll adjust.

Kylie calls a woodpecker - poodwecker.  Ha-ha.  It was so funny.

I am just amazed at how much older Kylie looks.  She doesn't look like she's going to be three.  She looks 4 or 5.

She is so in love with her sister that it almost makes me cry.  It's so cute.  They are really bonding and it's such a wonderful thing to watch.  There are days when  I want more children but then there are days that makes me want the two of them to be alone and form a very close bond.

On the 29th Kylie said her first prayer at dinner.  It was so cute.  She was thanking God and mentioning us, the cats, Megan, grandmas and papas, etc.  I was so stunned that she said it and volunteered no less.

July 2005

Of course I'm still not doing well with keeping up journals :-(  Hopefully soon I can keep on top of things.

Kylie has had a few potty accidents this month and they are really puzzling me.  I guess maybe she's getting to busy and forgets until the last second that she has to go.  Hopefully it's just a phase.

Each day I get more concerned with some of her actions.  I know I shouldn't try to find fault in my children and I'm not but some things concern me.  She is a super hyper active child and extremely clumsy.  There isn't a day that she is literally falling down and hurting herself in some way.  I guess that still could be because she is walking tippy-toed.  SIGH.  She's also super aggressive with people and very demanding of their attention.  Toddler maybe?  Ha, not sure.

She does really well with Megan and sometimes I think I trust her too much with her sister.  I hear other mothers of two tell me that their toddler will do this to the baby, etc, but Kylie has been pretty good about being gentle with Megan.  Maybe that's because we told her Megan was/is breakable.  HA ha.

I think she is going through a growth spurt because she never seems to get enough food in her bottomless pit these days.  Hee hee.  The sitter said the other day she ate three slices of pizza for lunch! Wow.  Makes me wonder if we'll be going up a size on clothing or she'll still be able to wear the size of clothing she wore last winter for this fall/winter.  We'll see.

Kylie is so bright, though, and I get lots of comments on that.  I wish I could take all the credit, but unfortunately I was gifted with the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom, so our sitter should get most of the credit.  I hope she continues down this *smart path* and ends up as smart as her daddy :-)

Ryan is so great with both girls, but exceptionally great with Kylie.  He really knows how to open up, get wild and crazy and really have a great time with Kylie.  I find it hard to act silly so I'm not that way with her.

It's just a little over a month and Kylie will be three years old.  It's so hard to believe my baby is growing up and I can't control it.  I hate not having control as most know, and this one is so out of my control.  Ha ha.  She talks about having a birthday party every day and wants butterflies as her theme.  So that's what we'll do.  I keep telling her she will have to start sleeping in her own bed all night long when she turns 3 just like Caillou did ;).

May-June 2005

June 15 - Wow, I could have sworn I was keeping up with journals but I guess not :-(  Kylie is doing really well with Megan.  She helps me out when I need her to and she tries her best to behave.  She's your typical toddler who doesn't want to go to sleep when she's supposed to and wants to eat nothing but junk food 24/7.  I lose my temper often with her and Ryan and I are finding ourselves wondering if we are parenting right.  Things we do don't work consistently for one, and for two they just aren't working.  Ha ha.

She is starting to have feelings about things that made us realize that from this day forward what we do with her is going to impact her because she's going to remember it.  We can't go with that "well not a big deal because she won't remember it" attitude because she will now.

I thought it was interesting today that Kylie showed me her shadow.  I don't know when kids typically notice their shadow but it was the first time she mentioned it and the first time I even thought about it.  What a bright child she really is.

I noticed that since I haven't been keeping up with her journal there isn't anything in here about her foot appointment.  The doc suggested either casts or braces.  In the end (not that day) we chose to do casts but not until the winter months.  We are hoping in the meantime she'll show signs of walking flat more often and she IS starting to, slowly but surely.

Kylie is so loving, even if she can be a PIA sometimes ;-)  She really lets you know she loves you and she MEANS it.  She's also good at letting us know that she knows we love her. That makes me feel good, especially since I question my parenting abilities lately.  It's hard raising two small children and having enough energy for the both of them.  Kylie's energy level is so high and so are her needs and they are hard to meet in the best, but most fun way when I am trying to help Megan develop as well.  We'll get there, someday.

Some other things I've noticed lately....her favorite color lately is YELLOW; if she doesn't say a word properly and I try to get her to pronounce it right, she really tries hard; she really LOVES people and yearns for their attention...everyone's attention; she loves books and wants them read to her often and more so than playing with toys; she loves junk food too much, lol; she really does try to be independent.  I guess that's enough things for now ;-)

April 2005

Kylie is adjusting to her big sister role pretty well now.  Especially considering she hears "please be quiet, Megan is asleep" or "I will play with you after I nurse Megan".  So she's doing well!

Kylie is going to daycare three days a week so I can adjust to Megan and she's doing very well with this schedule.  I am just so proud of her.  Although since Megan has arrived it seems harder to get her to sleep at night and she is giving up her naps.  Some days she'll take a two hour nap and others it's barely an hour.  One day she's gone with NO nap.  I sure hope she doesn't give them up completely.  SIGH.

April 27 - Well she's back to taking a 1.5 to 2.5 hour nap so that's good!  Sometimes she goes without a nap though.  Oh well.  Kylie is doing so well.  She's learning to dress herself and she's going to the potty by herself too.  We still help her wipe some and we do follow her in there, but she's getting on to the potty, etc by herself.  She's also showing an increased desire to brush her teeth and wash her hands which is good.  LOL.  Some days she has issues when we spend more time with Megan but overall with all the problems we are having with Megan and spitting up, etc I'd say Kylie is handling things very well.  She is growing up so fast and her vocabulary expands daily. It's truly amazing!

March 2005

Kylie had her doctor's appointment March 4th.  The doc is sending us to a pediatric orthopedist to determine what our next step is on her feet.  He is also sending us to a pediatric optomologist to see if she is having any eyesight problems.  AND....the yucky stuff on her head is a fungus so we have to treat that as well.  FUN!

About 2 hours after her appointment Kylie came down with Ryan's lovely cold and by Sunday she acquired pink eye.  So we took her to the doc again on Monday to get meds and she didn't go back to the sitters until mid morning on Wednesday, the 9th.  FUN!  She's still not doing well and it's the 10th so far.  I wonder how long this cold is going to last? SIGH.

On March 16th Kylie became a big sister to Megan Nicole!  She did so great being taken to grandma Bosie's so early that morning (4 am) and staying with her all day.  They went shopping for Megan and for her.  She came up with daddy on the morning of March 17th after staying with her grandparents.  She was so excited to see her baby sister and was even wearing her big sister shirt when she came to the hospital.  she did a bit of lashing out but overall I think she did fairly well considering all the attention being paid to Megan.

When Kylie first walked into my hospital room I wondered where did my baby girl go?  She looked so grown up and so proud and I just wanted to cry.  She is not my "baby" anymore but I wish she'd stay that way forever.  SNIFF SNIFF

March 29th Kylie had her ped optomologist appt and passed it with flying colors.  She did so great and the doc said her eyesight was great.  We noticed that day that she is not shy at all.  She had no problems taking the tests and dealing with the doctors and nurses.

January/February 2005

Wow, I'm falling behind in these journals.  SIGH.  In January Kylie was sick with a cold so we had to keep her home a few days.  In February she got the stomach virus/flu so we had to keep her home a few days.  It seems like the last three months it's one sickness or othe other.  SIGH.

She is still doing well with potty training and with NO binkies!  YAY!

It's amazing how fast she is growing and how well she communicates with us.  She started the Mother Goose preschool program at Miss Terri's in January and is really liking it.  Kylie is always bringing home new crafts that she has made.  She now calls going to Miss Terri's "going to school".  It's so cute!

She's been spending a LOT of time with daddy lately because I'm so tired with this pregnancy.  They are so cute together the way they play games and pretend.  Even though she spends a lot of time with him, when she is with me she's very clingy.  I often wonder how she will be with the new baby.

Kylie is still walking on her tippy toes and seems to have a scalp *issue* so we have scheduled a doctor's appointment for her in March to determine what our next moves are.

December, 2004

Wow, it's been quite a few months since I last wrote a journal entry for Kylie :-(

In November there was Thanksgiving and Kylie had a blast with her cousin Ellie. We also decorated for Christmas and Kylie loves the tree!

So far in December Kylie is still doing well with potty-training...having a few accidents but not many.  She's starting to understand the idea that she's going to have a sister coming very soon. Not sure how she'll handle it but she will get through it I'm sure.

We had a wonderful Christmas.  Kylie got so many toys and was very excited that Santa Claus visited her.  She wasn't so scared of him knowing that he left her presents and candy of course, LOL.

Kylie also gave up her binkie on December 27th with a little encouragement from daddy and mommy!  She did very well without it.

October, 2004

So many things I've "noticed" over the past few days/weeks. Kylie is growing up so fast I just can't believe my eyes.

She's all of a sudden wanting to walk down the stairs by herself. We have 3 stairs going from the laundry room to the garage. Since there is concrete there and we don't want her to fall we hold her hand going down those stairs. Well the last week she has to do it on her own or she lets you know! Hee hee. I was scared at first but she did it and I've learned to not be so scared about it now. I have to let her grow up, right? Even if they are just little things but make me scared.

Another thing is this potty training thing. She's doing so well. She's not training fast but that's fine with me. But she's trying and I thought it was going to be a lot longer before we even got to this point. She's even wanting to push her own pull-ups down on her own.

She's now showing interest in dressing herself. She lets me know when she needs help. It's so cute. I was so worried about her being behind in this area but I should have known that she'd be ready in her own time. She's even putting on her dress shoes (not tennis shoes) and she's even getting them on the right feet!!! Amazing.

Sunday night I was so tired and Kylie knew it. I was laying on the couch and she said "up mommy, come on". So she took my hand, I got up and she directed me back to her bedroom. She directed me up on her bed where she proceeded to tuck me in with her blanket. She said "night night mommy. you sleep". What a sweetheart to know mommy really need to go to sleep.

Some times I call her sweetheart..like I'll say "how was your day sweetheart?". So now she is calling me sweetheart. She'll say "hi sweetheart" to me. Just a doll.

Kylie is going to be a Ladybug for Halloween this year.  She's excited about it too!  She's so in to monsters, dragons and dinosaurs...I don't know what all of that is about.  ROFL.

September, 2004 (skipping August)

Kylie turned 2 years old on the 7th.  I just can't believe it.  She's growing up so fast.  We had a birthday party for her at Busch Stadium in St. Louis Missouri.  We rented a private room and 28 of our closest friends/family were there to share it with us.  Grandpa and ma Bosie shared a small birthday party with us on Kylie's birthday, which daddy and mommy took off that day to be with her.  She was literally spoiled with lots of toys of course.  ROFL.

Kylie weaned from breastfeeding this month.  Since I am pregnant my milk was changing in taste and drying up a bit and that peeved her off a bit so she quit.  I had always wanted to let her self-wean but if it had to be done a different way this was the best way.  It was not painful for either one of us and that made it nice.

We also decided to limit Kylie on binky usage this month to bedtime/naptime only.  She is doing very well with that and only asks at other times but is easily distracted.

July, 2004

Ryan and I went on our first real vacation without Kylie for 3.5 days (July 1 - July 4 (1/2day))  She did excellent with Grama and Papa Bosie!  Better than what mommy expected.  She did well adjusting to us as well when we got back.  We tried to wean her, but she just wouldn't have it, so we are going to slowly cut out nursing sessions since we are wanting to get pregnant with #2 and I do not want to tandem nurse if possible.

Kylie's 2nd 4th of July!  She did excellent, she wasn't afraid of the fireworks like I thought she would be.  She kept saying "wow" when they would explode.  Hahaha.

She is throwing more and more "terrible 2" tantrums lately and her biggest words lately are NO and MINE.  *SIGH*  We are dealing with it the best we can ;-)  She is also getting frustrated more easily when she can't do something.

We are still struggling with her sleeping through the night, she won't do it.  ROFL.  But we are working on it and Ryan is helping out more and more in the sleep department.  So far Kylie is nursing right before bed and then once in the middle of the night.  Hopefully that will continue.  She is not nursing at all during the day unless she gets sick or REALLY needs the comfort.

I had to go on my first overnight business trip this month and Kylie did very well with her daddy.  It was his first time with her all alone too :-)

Kylie is really big into "castles" this month.  So she tries to make a castle out of anything she can find.  Needless to say we have 3 chairs in our living room with a blanket over it right now and that's her castle!

June, 2004

Kylie spent another night with Grama and Papa to get ready for mom and dad's vacation away from her.  She did very well again.

Not much has been going on this month.  Kylie is repeating everything you say so you have to watch it.  Otherwise we've been very busy with the basement and Kylie has been a big helper with that.

Kylie did get diagnosed with a urinary tract infection which we are giving her antibiotics for.  :-(

She seems to be growing like a weed too!

May, 2004

Kylie spent her first night away from mommy and daddy on May 1st.  She did very well spending the night.  She woke up 3 times but my mom quickly got her back to sleep.  I came at 7 am the next morning and she didn't seem like she missed me at all, lol.  Poor mommy and daddy :-(  She'll stay there a few more times to *prepare* for when she's away from us for a few days while we are on our trip in July.

She also came down with a tiny stomach bug that same weekend.  She woke up throwing up, threw up one more time and was fine the rest of the time.  She didn't each much solids, though, until Monday.  Poor baby!  Thank goodness she is still nursing because I think the stomach bug would have been worse if not and she could have gotten severely dehydrated.  Breast milk was the only thing she seemed to be able to keep down.

On the 16th, Ryan and I took Kylie to see Sesame Street Live!  We even bought front-row seat tickets.  I thought Kylie would be more excited than she was, but I think I set high hopes, lol.  She did enjoy it and kept yelling Ernie and Elmo.  The characters came right down in front of us quite often, it was neat!  Ryan and I really enjoyed the show too.  We hope to take her to see the Wiggles in August!  Mommy can't wait, she's in love with Anthony.  Hehehehe.

Kylie has been saying tons of new words.  It's amazing.  She'll say "mom, I'm coming" or "go to Terri's".  She's starting to understand feelings now.  She can tell you *sometimes* when she is hurting, tired, sad. It's so neat!   She's been counting to 10 for a few months now, although she sometimes gets the numbers mixed up.

She knows all the sounds to animals which is so cute!

May 24th was the first day Kylie went to the sitter with only whole milk (hormone-free) and no breastmilk.  Sniff, sniff.  She seems to be nursing a bit more since we did that, but it's only been a couple of days.

Happy Memorial Day everyone! (May 31st)

April, 2004

Kylie continues to expand her vocabulary!  It's amazing!

This month we got to visit with some ladies from the breastfeeding board I frequent.  This is our second visit and it was so much fun!  Kylie and I also got to go to our friend Jennifer's baby shower, which was fun too.

We had a great Easter as well!  Ryan and I took Kylie to an Easter egg hunt on Saturday the 10th at Knight's Action Park.  She got to color, hunt for eggs and she got a face tattoo and a balloon.  Unfortunately the face tattoo was stuck on her face for seven days!  YIKES!  That didn't look good in her Easter pics ;-)  It was a frog and every time Kylie would look at it in the mirror she would freak out.  LOL.  Easter day she woke up and went into the living room to see what the Easter bunny left her and she saw her basket and her eyes lit up and the first thing she said was "WOW"!  LOL.  That was the first time we'd heard her say that.   She got a lot of neat things from the bunny.  Her beautiful purple wicker basket included:  beach puzzle, Winnie The Pooh Bubble set, sidewalk chalk, pinwheel, a pretty little nightgown, chocolate bugs, an egg with her name on it, some eggs with money in them, a travel magna doodle, and I think that's it, lol.  Later on Easter Sunday, Ryan's family came over and the kids had an Easter egg hunt.  Kylie seemed to have a blast with the kids. We had a great cook-out too that day.

Kylie is still teething with her two year molars.  Those things are just beating her up.  I hope it won't be long and those teeth will be in and we won't have to deal with them anymore.

She looks like she is getting taller and slimmer but I honestly have not weighed or measured her height this month.  It seems like it's staying about the same as at her 18 month visit.  Most breastfed babies slow down at 6 months.  Kylie did not, so I'm assuming she's going to do that now.  She's wearing 2T and most things in 3T and wearing Huggies Pull-up diapers in size 2-3T.  We gave up on regular diapers because she wiggled too much, the pull-ups are great for resolving that issue!

She's been interested in the potty off and on, but nothing firm.  She has peed in the potty once but she didn't know what she did.  I'm assuming she's going to be a slow trainer in this area ;-)

Kylie is now getting more whole milk than she is breast milk at the sitter.  We decided that we would slowly transition her to whole milk because I seem to be producing less and less milk for the pump.  It makes me sad but I know all things end eventually.  By the end of May she will be solely on whole milk at the sitter and nursing when she is with me.  Who knows when she'll give that up ;-) LOL.

We took Kylie to her first Henson Robinson Zoo trip this month.  It was very disappointing, not as big as it was when we were kids.  There weren't as many animals there.  She did like feeding the fish, but was scared of most of the other animals.

March, 2004

Oh wow, Kylie is just saying words so fast I can't right them down.  I can't even begin to explain the amount of words she knows now and says.  She will repeat everything so you have to watch what you say.  She hasn't said a bad word *yet*, though.  So that's good.

Kylie got a new bedroom outfit this month, so she is sleeping in a full size bed now, with mommy of course, lol.  She does so good getting in and out of her bed.  We bought a step stool and Ryan painted it so she can get up and down out of bed easier.

She's eating solids very well.  She likes to eat fruit whole now, not cut up.  She's eating more veggies and seems to love peas now, whereas before she didn't like them too much.  Kylie is doing very well with fork and spoon, too.

At her 18 month well-baby visit, she weighed in at 28 pounds 13 ounces and 34 inches tall.  She's almost 3 feet now, lol.

Ryan worked very hard this month to set up an area for Kylie to have her swing set/jungle gym.  Kylie just loves it!  She loves throwing the rocks in her play area too :-)

The weather is starting to get nice so I can't wait to put Kylie in dresses more.  We are playing outside a lot more now, which is nice.  We were cooped up too long because of winter weather.

Kylie is nursing less and less than she did just even a month ago.  She's down to nursing before I go to work, right before bed, and then maybe one to 2 times in the middle of night. She sometimes nurses one or two more times on the weekend, but that's about it.  She's saying NO a bit more when I offer to nurse.  And instead of saying she wants to "snuggle" to nurse (which is our code word) she is now yelling "SIDE!"  when she wants to breastfeed.  LOL.  All this time I was trying to teach her to say snuggle and she decides to say SIDE! instead.  Hehehehe.  She's also getting about 10 ounces of pumped breastmilk and 3 ounces of whole milk at the sitters each day.

She got 2 2-year molars in this month, poor baby.  She may even have more, but she won't let me see in her mouth.

Kylie is also climbing EVERYTHING!

Well, I'm sure there is more I could say, but I will save it for a later day.

February, 2004

Show Kylie a sheep and she will tell you "baaa".  Ask her what sound a sheep makes and she doesn't know.  LOL!  She is so interested in animals right now!  Ryan and I got her some animal puzzles for Valentines Day and she loves to play with them.  She can match up the animal puzzle piece with the picture of the animal.  She is getting so smart!  We were so shocked when she did that.  She knew exactly where each piece went.

Our favorite word this month that Kylie is saying is "Tur-toll" for turtle.  It is so cute.  Her bedroom decor is bugs, turtles, butterflies, etc.  So she points at the turtle and keeps saying tur-toll.  She just melts our hearts!

Other words she's saying are: hey, you, mine, apple, rock, kcake (pancake).  She is also saying "I pee" or "I poop" either before she goes in her diaper or right after she goes in her diaper.  I guess she's starting to become aware of her bodily functions. Hehehehe.  I'm sure it's too soon for potty training though, but we are headed in the right direction ;-)

Kylie is just amazing us every day.  She seems to be learning new words at maximum speed!  She's making our heads turn!  LOL!  We are having so much fun with her.  She likes to take Cinderella's food over to her and she likes to "fake" water the plants for mommy.  She is becoming quite the little helper.  Sometimes too much, hehehehe.

We started a new bedtime routine at the end of January which has made life a lot better for Ryan, Kylie and I.  She has become a happier child now that she is getting much more sleep and starting to sleep a bit more at night. Some nights she still wakes to nurse every 2 hours and other nights she'll go 3,4 or even 5 hours before waking to nurse again.

We tried whole milk with Kylie on February 7th, and she did not like it.  She took one sip and through the cup done.  Haha.  So we tried flavoring it with strawberry syrup and she still didn't like it, so we tried chocolate flavored syrup and still no go.  We are in no big hurry for her to drink it, so we'll try again some other time.

Some more words towards the end of the month she started saying are:  papa, more, fox, pig, sit, bed, shoe, rock, book, Terri and much much more.  I can't even keep up with her she is saying so many new ones and uses lots of the regularly.

Kylie also started getting her right bottom 2 year molar in.  Ouch!  We suspected she was teething and sure enough she is.  It's been bothering her at night most.  Hope they come in soon!

Last but not least, Kylie went and visited Gama and Papa Bosie on February 29th and Kylie caught her first pet....a willy worm.  Papa even put it in a jar (with air holes in the lid) so Kylie could bring it home to show us.  Needless to say the willy worm passed on the next day.  But she won't stop saying "bug, bug, bug".  Hehehe.  I think she is going to be more of a tom-boy than a girly girl.  I think we are headed for trouble.  LOL!

January, 2004

Wow!  What a month!  Kylie has battled tonsillitis off an on all month!  Poor baby.  We finally got it under control and gone by the end of the month!

One thing that Kylie is doing that is really amazing me is that she can separate blocks by their shape.  She has shape colored blocks that go into a shape sorter.  She gets frustrated and if they are not all circle-shaped she gives up and takes the lid of and puts them in the bucket.  Hehehehe.  But she will put all the circle shapes in there and then all the square and then all the triangle ones.  It's so neat and we never taught her or asked her to put all of one kind in there first.  YAY!

Ryan is thrilled, and so am I, because Kylie is saying "Da da" like CRAZY now!  It is so cute.  She follows him around and says "da da", "hi da da" with the biggest smile on her face.  I am so glad she finally is saying his name all the time.  I'm sure daddy is on cloud nine now ;-)

Ask Kylie what sound a cow makes and she will promptly blurt out "Moooooo".  It's so cute.  She is starting to understand animals and is always pointing to them and asking what they are.

Kylie is saying new words all the time.  Some of her latest words are:  teeth, pig, papa, bath, hot, ouch, whoa and shhhhh.

She is just growing so much every day and she just keeps a smile on our face.  We are so amazed at how this little person grows and we just love her so much :-)

Kylie is now sleeping in my old day bed I had as a teen :-)  Well, she sleeps some of the night alone in it and I sleep the rest of the night in there with her on it.

December, 2003

Where does the time fly?  This Christmas was Kylie’s second Christmas.  We thought she was going to be more into opening gifts, the excitement and such, but she really wasn’t.  She wouldn’t have even noticed if she hadn’t gotten a ton of gifts.  She of course got spoiled by everyone including Santa J  We tried several times to take her to see Santa and every time she got real scared, holding on to mommy for dear life and shaking her head and saying “no, no”.  It was so cute to see and hear her say that, of course we would ask her if she wanted to see Santa many times, lol.

Kylie is still walking on her tippy toes. I guess she will be a ballerina when she grows up ;-)  Doctor showed us some exercises to do with her feet and told us to keep an eye on it.  If she is still walking this way at 2 or 2.5 years of age then surgery or some other kind of correction will need to be done.

She’s still nursing every two hours at night and quite a bit when I’m with her and taking 10 to 15 ounces of EBM at the sitter still.  Her latest thing is to tug on my shirt and go “uh, uh, uh” when she wants to be nursed.  It is so cute.   She hasn’t been sick since July, either; knock on wood, until December 5th when she developed tonsillitis.  She’s been fighting it off and on all month so we took her to doctor and got her some medicine.

Kylie and mommy are still co-sleeping most of the night, too J  Since daddy was away this month on business for the better part of two weeks Kylie has gotten very attached to me.  Mommy has been sleeping with her lots more.

She’s eating more and more than she used to and getting better with a spoon and bowl.  She is still having a bit of a time with the fork, though.  Mealtime is very messy J  I can’t wait until she learns to use the bowl and utensils better, lol.

Kylie is learning more and more on how to throw a temper tantrum, but we help her through her frustration so they don’t last very long.  She is also starting to repeat more words we say J

She is getting familiar with body parts:  eyes, nose, feet, mouth.  She can say feet and can point to them and her nose, but the eyes, mouth and ears we are still working on.

She is still continuing to grow beyond our expectations, lol.  She weighed in at 26 pounds 11 ounces and 33 inches in length at her 15 month well-baby visit.

Kylie is wearing a size 24 months to 2T in clothes and she has been in Pampers pull-up diapers for walkers and they are a size 2T/3T.

We found a sippy cup that she absolutely loves and we love them because they don’t make messes and she is really mastering a straw.

Kylie is really becoming such a loving child.  She just absolutely loves giving kisses to us and the closet mirror and whoever/whatever else will let her kiss them.  She is constantly hugging us, too.  We just love this new milestone.

November, 2003

Our baby is not a baby anymore, she's already 14 months old.  I long to hold her in my arms like I used to.  She doesn't like to be cradle held like she used to.  <SIGH>

Well, Kylie is still walking on tippy toes, lol.  She got her first pair of Stride Rite tennishoes on November 1st!  She looks so cute in them, but she still wears her Robeez as well.  We are using the child-safety gates a lot now to keep her in eye's way ;-)

She's still nursing and still getting up every 2 hours to nurse through the night.  My outlook is...she's gotta sleep someday, right?  LOL.  She is taking a lot less EBM at the sitter now, about 12 ounces, so I only pump 2x at work instead of 3.

She is growing like a weed!  She is 25 pounds 8 ounces and 32.5 inches long!  She is growing out of her birthday clothes at a rapid pace!!!!!  Thank goodness Christmas is just around the corner, hahaha.

Gym and Swim class is great!  Kylie is still a bit of a meanie, she still pushes kids down in class and thinks she rules the room, LOL.  It is a blast, though, and Ryan and I are enjoying watching her interact with other kids even if it means seeing her push them down.  One night in class she went over and hugged a 16 month old girl and then immediately shoved the girl down.  Ahhhhh, that's my Booga!

Thanksgiving was great!  She really showed her lovingness towards her cousin, Ellie :-)  They kept hugging each other.  She got a nice little boo boo on her left forehead a few days before Thanksgiving when she fell out of her lazyboy chair.  *SIGH*  It was a huge boo boo at first and scared me to death!  But she was fine ;-)

October, 2003

Kylie is 13 months old now!  Wow, time is flying by.  We have ventured down the road of extended nursing now!  WOW!  Kylie still nurses every two hours throughout the night, but still does not bother me ;-)

Her newest phrase this month is "Gonna go bye bye, hmm, hmm?"  It took me a while to figure out where she learned that one at, and then I realized I ask her that every morning before we leave for work.  LOL.

We transitioned her from her crib to a toddler bed this month.  Although, her and I still co-sleep on a mattress on her floor at night, she spends a few hours every night in her toddler bed.  We are hoping that one day she will sleep most of the night in her own bed ;-)  She loves this new arrangement, though.  She can climb into her own bed like a big girl and get out when she wants to.  That can be good and bad, hahaha.

She is walking a lot better this month, but still walks on her tippy toes.  Not sure why, though, but her little legs get her where she wants to go and I guess that's what matters.  I know that going shopping is a much "busier" event than it used to be.  We spend a lot of time chasing her around now.

Bless her little heart, Kylie learned how to give kisses this month.  This has been one of the favorite things about being a parent....the joy you get when your child loves you back.  I just love when she gives kisses, it makes my heart sink every time.  Now kisses are few and far between, daddy and I would take them every second but Kylie doesn't like giving them all the time.  She is just sooo precious!

Kylie started a "Gym and Swim" class at the local YMCA.  The idea of it is for them to play with other kids in a "gym" type setting and then we go to swimming lessons after that.  They should be a lot of fun!

September, 2003

Kylie turned 1 years old on the 7th!  Her birthday party was held on her birthday, Sunday September 7th.  It was a beautiful, sunny and warm day.  We had her party at Lincoln Park and had all of our family and friends there to share it with us.  We all want to thank everyone who shared in her special day with us!

Kylie seems to be changing more and more each month.  She is now going to bed at 8 p.m. every night.  She started that routine on her own, haha.

She is walking more and more on her own and crawling less.  She still is not standing up by herself.  She has to crawl to something to pull up, but she'll get there soon :-)

Her cuspids (all 4) have been coming in slowly but surely.  So she is up to 12 teeth now!

She's eating more and more solids and is now off of all bottles at the sitter, just on sippy cups!  YAY!  She is becoming such a big girl, but still likes her binky on occasion.

She's showing "other" sides of herself, the not-so-nice side where she is being mean to other kids, and she has also noticed that she can scream at the top of her lungs just because she can, haha.

She is saying so many words now and she even said "Hi dada" to Ryan on the phone this month when he was out of town on business. He was so excited about that.

Oh, and she has learned to open doors!  Oh no!  Hahaha.  We have to be even more careful now and we've even put up gates to block off the great room from all other rooms so we can keep tabs on her.

August, 2003

Kylie turned 11 months old on the 7th of August.  This month has been crazy!!!! We have been planning for Kylie's 1st birthday and party.

Kylie has also changed a lot this month.  People are starting to say that they see more of Ryan in her, which I totally agree.  She still has my "attitude", though, haha.

The most exciting thing this month is Kylie started walking with a push-ride walker.  Jim and Jen Horvath had bought her a walker for Christmas, but it seemed to scare her, so we decided to try a new one.  We found one that was very sturdy and cute.  The first time we gave it to her she immediately started walking around with it.  It was so cute, Ryan and I were about ready to cry, we were so excited.  By the middle of August she was walking with her other walker Jim and Jen got her.  That walker tips over easy and Kylie just needed to get the courage up to be able to use it.  Now she is a pro with both!

She also got her 2nd, 3rd, and 4th molars!  YUCK!  Those gave her a lot of trouble!  She won't even really let us look into her mouth, so we assume they are in now.

Kylie is also trying to say "snuggle" which comes out "uggle" as our "code word" for nursing in public.

Besides walking with a walker, Kylie is crawling faster than ever, getting into everything, cruising the furniture better and taking a few steps by herself between Ryan and I.

July, 2003

Kylie turned 10 months old on the 7th of this month!  So much has happened in July for all of us! Kylie started saying dada (gaga) and dog (gog) which she fine tuned those two words by the end of the month.  She has been babbling like crazy!  Haha.

We had our first family camping trip over the 4th of July holiday!  It was hot, but we had a blast!!!! We went to a Jellystone campground in Amboy, IL.

Kylie is still nursing OFTEN (haha) we are trying to wean her off bottles and on to sippy cups.  We finally found a sippy cup she likes and she is now getting 3 bottles of EBM at the sitter and one sippy cup.

She is "cruising" the furniture like crazy!  Ryan says she will be walking by her birthday.  I'm not so sure :-)

A few other things she has done this month is she started giving hugs to people.  Her first hug was to her cousin Kirsten.  She also got her 1st molar (her 9th tooth)!

June, 2003

Kylie turned 9 months old on the 7th of June.  Kylie now says kitty cat, mama, dada (still having trouble with this one), Bob (?), and book.  She is babbling more and more every day.

She is crawling and cruising all over the place.  We have to keep a very close eye on her! Ha Ha!

Kylie has tried several different new kinds of food.  She has tried mashed potatoes, turkey, bread, and various fruits.  She also tried black olives and pizza crust which she really liked.

We had to remove all breakables from the living room because she has gotten more curious.  We now have board books and plastic coasters on the coffee tables for her to play with.

She amazes me more and more every day.  She is such a happy baby!

May, 2003

Kylie turned 8 months old on the 7th of May.  She now have 8 teeth!  She have 4 on the top and 4 on the bottom.  She is trying all kinds of solid foods, but having problems digesting them so I don't get to have many right now.  She finished her swimming lessons at the end of May.  She missed the last session and missed another one due to an ear infection.

She started crawling on May 30! At that same time she started standing up by pulling her self up on furniture.  Her favorite thing is to stand with her legs extended but her hands and head still on the floor.  What a goof!

She is saying mama, baba (for bye bye) and trying to say dada and kitty cat.

April, 2003

Kylie turned 7 months old on the 7th of April.  I now have 6 teeth!  I have 4 on top that have broke through the skin and I have two down on the bottom that are really noticeable.  She can now bite and chew on biter biscuits, zwieback toast, carrots, celery, and anything else she can get her hands on.  She has tried carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, green beans, peas, pears, and applesauce to date.  She will get bananas and peaches next month.  She is still trying to drink mommy's milk from a juice box, but some of it still ends up on her and not in her mouth :)  She started swimming lessons on April 24 at the YMCA.  She will go for 7 weeks, one night a week.  Most of the babies in her "shrimp" class cried when they got in the water.  Kylie had no reaction.  She didn't cry, but was not smiling and laughing either.

She started taking naps for us without us having to hold her to stay asleep.  She likes sleeping on her tummy and that seems to keep her asleep longer.  She is taking two naps a day for about 1 to 3 hours a piece. She is still waking every 2 hours at night to nurse and is taking 4 - 5 ounce bottles of mommy's milk at the sitter.

She is rolling over from her tummy to her back and her back to her tummy like crazy!  Still no crawling yet.  She loves to play with her toys and is starting to like the Baby Einstein videos.

She had fun on Easter.  Kylie and mommy went to her godfather's house for Easter.  Daddy went to a Cardinal baseball game in St. Louis.  She was pretty fussy most of the day so we didn't stay long at Curt's house.  She got to have a carrot and a "taste" of banana cream pie at his house and she took a brief nap there.  The rest of the day mommy and Kylie lounged around the house.  She was teething.

She is getting bigger every day and growing way too fast!  She has great motor skills and is very aware of everything in her surroundings!

March, 2003

Kylie turned 6 months old on March 7!  She also had her well-baby visit that day at which time she was vaccinated.  She did better this time because I nursed her while she was getting them which made the pain much less than the last time.  Ryan and I had read that breastfeeding can be used as a "pain reliever".  So we decided that was what we were going to do this time around.  We were both so surprised that it worked so well!

At her well-baby visit, Kylie weighed 18 pounds 7 ounces and measured 28 inches long!  Our pediatrician told us that we could start solids, so on March 8 we tried out peas.  She liked them a lot better than the rice cereal, but unfortunately we had to stop giving them to her because she developed bad diaper rashes.  Our Dr. told us to wait a few weeks and then try again.  Otherwise Kylie is doing well as far as development.

She has two teeth very well established and a third tooth is popping out slowly.  She has grown out of her infant carrier car seat so we had the painful task of shopping for a convertible car seat.  Finally found one mid-month!  Ha. Ha.

Kylie has learned how to drink from a sippy cup with a straw.  She loves it!

She is lifting her butt up when on her tummy and she is also sitting up really good.  Still with the help of a pillow, but doing good.

She got her first swing ride at Grandpa Nation's this month, so daddy decided to put up a swing for her in our front yard.  She loves swinging!  It is finally getting nice outside to where we can get.

February, 2003

Kylie is 5 months old this month!  She is becoming more alert these days!  Kylie weighs 18 pounds and is 28 inches long!

She still nurses every two hours when with mommy and is taking bottles at daycare.  She still is not sleeping through the night and doesn't like to take naps unless being held.  She just loves her mommy and daddy too much, I guess.

She found her feet early this month!  She grabs a hold of them and sometimes will eat them!  Ha.Ha.

Her second tooth popped up this month right next to the other one down below.  She was a little fussy when it was coming it, but for the most part did real well.  Her third tooth started to cut through late this month.  It just happens to be an eye tooth above, so this one is giving her a bit more trouble.

She really did not have too much excitement this month....she is starting to sit up on her own some with the help of a Boppy pillow.  She also sat up in a grocery cart for the first time in February.

She loves daycare and tends to come home from the sitters' every once in awhile with a new sound to make for us.

January, 2003

Wow, what a month!  Kylie went for her 4 month check up January 3rd!  She is getting so big - she now weighs 16 pounds and is 26 inches long!  She is going to be tall like her daddy!  She nurses constantly - eats like a piglet! Ha. Ha.

She is doing well at home daycare.  She sleeps, eats and poops a lot there.  The kids there love her and she loves to be with them.

Kylie is a very alert and happy baby!  She is playing with everything and chewing on anything she can get her hands on.  She has been teething since she was 3 months old and just the other day we noticed a tooth has started to pop through (1/26/03) and another right under the skin!  Great, I wonder what this means for me and our breastfeeding adventure!  Ha. Ha.

Her feeding schedule:  Sometimes I feel like I am nursing her non-stop! We get her up at 6:30 am to get her and us ready for work.  She nurses twice before I take her to daycare at  8:00 am.  She eats at least 3 bottles, if not 4, at daycare.  I then nurse her twice before she goes to bed around 8:00 pm.  She is off to sleep until around 1:30 am, at which she will nurse and go back to sleep till about 4 or 5 am at which she nurses again.  Some days she is up every 2 hours to nurse!  Needless to say we don't get much sleep in this house! Ha. Ha.

We tried giving her rice cereal several times this month, and she still does not like it so we are going to wait a while longer.

She is rolling over from her stomach to her back on occasion (doing that since 3.5 months).  She smiles, giggles, squeals, makes lots of noises.  She can hold her head up straight, can sit up with support, and can stand with support.

September, 2002

Our home was blessed with a beautiful baby girl!  Kylie Elizabeth was born Saturday, September 7, 2002 at 3:22 a.m.  She weighed 8 pounds 2 ounces and was 21 inches long!  We went into the hospital at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 5 to be induced.  After 30 some hours laboring and no sleep or food, the doctor decided that Kylie was too big to "fit" so we had to have a cesarean.  No comments on the c-section, but she was definitely worth it!  Now I know why I was so extremely uncomfortable and in a lot of pain.  It was because she was so long!  The doctor even made a comment on how hard it was for him to get her out of my stomach.  He commented that it was all baby in there, no room for much else.  Ha. Ha.

We were able to go home as a family several days later on September 10, 2002.  We were very glad to finally get to go home.   It took mommy several weeks to recover, but daddy was a big help!  Mommy chose to breastfeed, which was quite an experience to get used to!  Mommy was on maternity leave until middle November and daddy was on paternity leave for the first two weeks.
